Egypt kept World Cup hopes alive with a narrow but very valuable victory in and against Zambia this Saturday.

The only goal of the match was scored by Hosny Abd Rabou in the 68th minute, and was enough to earn the Egyptians the three points they needed to keep pressure on Group C leaders Algeria.

Egypt and Algeria both have ten points in this group, but Algeria could restore the three-point advantage in their home match against Rwanda on Sunday.

On Wednesday, Egypt and Algeria meet to decide which of the two teams is to feature in South Africa next year. Zambia and Rwanda are both out of contention.
