Egypt kept the pressure on Algeria in CAF World Cup qualifying group 3 on Saturday with a 1-0 victory away to Malawi.

Rwanda, which was eliminated from World Cup contention with the defeat, were on the backfoot for much of the match and their defense held out until the 73rd minute when captian Ahmed Hassan bundled home after the ball came loose in the area.

Rwanda were desperate to grab an equalizer, but Egypt were always the better side and held on to grab three valuable points.

Egypt pull level on seven points with Algeria at the top of Group 3, but Algeria are still to play Zambia on Sunday.
