Marc Cucurella has been with Eibar on loan from Barcelona in a deal that was arranged two days before the summer transfer window closed, and he has so far impressed his temporary bosses, playing in a position that he wasn’t initially meant to play. A natural left-back, the 20-year-old has been playing as a left winger.
Eibar’s sporting director Fran Garagarza spoke to Catalan radio show “Tot Costa”, as relayed by Sport, and he said if it were up to him, the club would certainly pay the money needed to turn the loan into a permanent deal, which is less than €5 million.
A report from Marca back in November revealed that there was an option for Eibar to do so, but Barcelona would still have the buy-back option for a fee double of that which Eibar would pay in the first place. The Catalan giants would be able to activate that option even without the consent of Eibar.
However, a move back would have to be accepted by Cucurella himself, which doesn’t seem very likely due to the fact that Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde had promised him a place in his squad, and broke that promise.
