The Iceland icon Eidur Gudjohnsen will remain remembered for his spell with the Catalan giants Barcelona but his sons will not follow their father’s footsteps.
The 16-year-old Andri and 12-year-old Daniel have both signed academy deals with Barcelona arch-rivals Real Madrid and will represent the Los Blancos Juvenil side and Infantil B squad, respectively.
Both of Gudjohnsen boys are moving to Madrid from the Catalan capital leaving their father’s legacy behind them. Andri was, in fact, an Espanyol graduate whereas it was Daniel who was a part of Barcelona’s La Masia.
Instead of signing – and remaining – with Barcelona, both boys have opted for Real Madrid which turned out to be a more appealing option. According to the reports coming from Marca, the entire Gudjohnsen family will now move to the Spanish capital.
Gudjohnsen spent three years at the Camp Nou, between 2006 and 2009, making the total of 72 La Liga appearances and scoring 10 goals.
