Eintracht sign Timo Hildebrand

Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt have announced the signing of German goalkeeper Timo Hildebrand on a free transfer.

The 35-year-old has signed a contract until the end of the season and will try to help the club cope with the absence of first choice shot-stopper Kevin Trapp.

Eintracht decided to act after it had been revealed that the 24-year-old would miss around three months of action through an ankle injury.

Timo Hildebrand had been a free agent since he was released from his contract at Schalke at the end of last season.

The experienced goalie began his professional career at Stuttgart and soon developed into one of Germany’s top goalkeepers, going on to make 7 appearances for the national team.

His career started taking a wrong turn when he left the Swabians, with unsuccessful spells at Valencia, Hoffenheim, Sporting Lisbon and Schalke following.

Hildebrand is now expected to vie Felix Wiedwald for a starting berth at Eintracht Frankfurt until Kevin Trapp recovers from injury.
