Arsenal are close to completing the signing of Borussia Dortmund talent Thomas Eisfeld, according to a report from Ruhr Nachrichten.
An employee of International Soccer Management revealed to the German source the player is with his agent, Reza Fazeli, in London and pending a medical examination, will soon join the Gunners’ ranks.
An attacking midfielder, Eisfeld’s dreams of a career in professional football took a blow in late 2009, when he suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
He has bounced back well from the injury, and is the second highest scorer for Dortmund’s Under-19 team, with six goals in 12 appearances.
Had he stayed at Dortmund, Eisfeld would have faced heavy competition for a first-team place, with the Bundesliga champions having signed midfielders Moritz Leitner, Leonardo Bittencourt and Mustafa Amini over the course of the last 12 months.
But now, the 19-year-old appears to be on his way to Arsenal for a new challenge.
Details regarding the transfer fee and duration of Eisfeld’s contract have yet to be disclosed.
