La Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that Barcelona and Real Madrid are locked in the battle for Independiente wonderkid Lucas Patanelli.
The 16-year-old has yet to make his senior debut for the Argentine giants, but there is a chance he will leave for greener pastures before he manages to do so.
Reports from Spain suggest that Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid are not only keen on the youngster, but are working hard in an attempt to beat the other side to his signature.
Some media even claim that Patanelli has signed a pre-contract with the Catalans, but there has been no official confirmation so far.
Likened to Lionel Messi for his style of play, the youngster is the hottest prospect to have come out of Independiente youth academy since Sergio Aguero.
Chelsea, Porto and Arsenal are also interested in the youngster, who is valued at €7 million at the moment.
