Manchester City youth player Omar Elabdellaoui will join Feyenoord on a season-long loan after taking advice from former loanee John Guidetti.
Guidetti enjoyed a successful loan spell at Feyenoord last season, earning plaudits and scoring 20 goals in 23 appearances.
And the Dutch club were more than happy to take his advice on his Norway under-21 international team-mate, who is expected to sign a two-year contract extension with City ahead of the move to the Netherlands.
“I told the club that Omar is a player who fits perfectly at Feyenoord,” he told Voetbal International. “He’s physical strong, fast and technically good. He can play as a left or right-winger or as an attacking midfielder.
“I know he’s a player the fans will love. When Omar asked me about Feyenoord, I told him it’s a club (at which) he could develop perfect. Look at me, I had a year to never forget.”
Elabadallaoui, 20, joined City as a 15-year-old and is due to have a medical on Friday ahead of his move.
“This step is good for my career and my development,” he said.
“Feyenoord is a top club in Holland where I can play for 50,000 fans.”
