Eljero Elia set for January exit

Werder are ready to cash in on Dutch winger Eljero Elia, German daily newspaper Bild can reveal.

The 27-year-old started seven of first eight Bundesliga fixtures this season, but was then left out of the squad for the last two matches.

It would appear as though Elia is not in the first team plans of new coach Viktor Skripnik and there is every chance he will be allowed to leave in the upcoming transfer window.

Pocketing €2.8 million per campaign, the former Netherlands international is one of the highest earners at the club and with his contract not expiring until June 2016, Werder are ready to consider any offer for his services.

Elia has shown some promise since joining the club from Juventus, scoring 4 goals in 64 league appearances, but he has failed to live up to the potential.

The winger has so far earned 28 Netherlands caps but last featured for the national team back in December 2012.
