Swedish international midfielder Rasmus Elm has ended speculation surrounding his future by signing for Eredivisie champions AZ Alkmaar.

The 21-year-old, who leaves Kalmar in his homeland, had been strongly linked with a move to England.

Fulham, Everton and Manchester City were all reported to be keen on the youngster, but have ultimately missed out on his signature.

Elm has opted to move to Holland instead, penning a four-year contract with Eredivisie champions AZ.

“I have got a positive feeling about this club,” he told AZ’s TV channel.

“My brother Viktor (who plays for Heerenveen) has already told me that everything at AZ is very professional and the club have a good team.

“Viktor did ask me to join Heerenveen, but I haven’t listened to him.”
