Mohamed Elneny has revealed his desire to sign a new Arsenal contract.
The Egyptian midfielder arrived to the Emirates back in 2016, but he has never been a regular part of the starting XI under any of the three managers he has worked with in North London. Looking from the outside, his days at the club seemed numbered when he joined Besiktas on loan in 2019, but the player insists that was never the case for himself.
He returned to the club last summer, and with his 30 appearances in all competitions this season, he has shown he can still be of use to Mikel Arteta as the Spaniard seeks for ways to take the team back to the top of English football.
As quoted by the Evening Standard, the 28-year-old said his loyalty belonged to Arsenal, and if the club were to offer him a new deal, he would sign it without a second’s thought.
His current contract expires in 2022.
