Emerson Palmieri to join Lyon on loan from Chelsea

Chelsea left-back Emerson Palmieri is on the verge of joining Lyon in the summer transfer window, according to Calciomercato. It has been reported that Italian club Napoli also want to sign the 27-year-old Italy international left-back, but he will make the switch to Lyon on a loan deal.

Emerson joined Chelsea from AS Roma in 2018. Much was expected  of the Italy international when he arrived at Stamford Bridge, but he has failed to establish himself as a regular in the first team. The former Santos defender has played only 33 times in the Premier League for the Blues.

The left-back won the Champions League with Chelsea last season and the Euro 2020 finals with Italy this summer. Lyon are a big club who will be aiming to challenge for the Champions League places in the Ligue 1 table this season.
