(GSM) – Valencia boss Unai Emery believes that his club should not adjust its targets for the upcoming season despite the departure of several key players.
Striker David Villa will continue his career at Barcelona and David Silva recently agreed terms with Premiership side Manchester City.
For Emery, there is no reason to be concerned. “The club has done a great job attracting new players,” he said in an interview with Spanish sportspaper Marca.
Those players include the experienced Roberto Soldado as replacement for Villa, and Aritz Aduriz who joined the club from Mallorca and faces the task of replacing Silva.
“We had to look for new names. These players had been on our list for a while and now we acted. We want to play aggressively, with a real winners’ mentality,” Emery promised.
Last season, Valencia finished third in the Spanish Primera Division, behind Barcelona and Real Madrid.
