Valencia manager Unai Emery was pleased with his team’s creativity during their 2-0 win over Deportivo La Coruna on Sunday.
The fourth placed side in La Liga racked up their fourth consecutive win in the league, courtesy of goals to Jeremy Mathieu and Pablo Hernandez late in the second half.
Emery credited his players with being patient enough to eventually break down a stern Deportivo defence.
“We knew it would be hard to break the deadlock. It was a tough match against a rival and a well crafted defence. We knew it would be difficult to open the scoring,” Emery said, as quoted by Goal.com.
The Spaniard has come under scrutiny for constant changes to his side despite their recent successes, but Emery insists rotations are necessary to maintain their lofty league position.
“Look at what we did right and wrong, try to think game by game, and we must look at our place in the table after the game,” he said.
Valencia face Malaga (home), Racing Santander (away), Hercules (home) and Atletico Madrid (away) in upcoming league fixtures.
