Emre Can’s contract talks blocked

As reported by The Express, Liverpool midfielder Emre Can spoke about his situation after the 0-0 draw against Porto in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16.

He said he naturally needs to think about his future, but all contract negotiations with any club are currently being blocked by his agent so he can focus solely on football.

His current contract expires at the end of June this year, and Juventus have often been reported to have expressed an interest in the German international. There have even been reports that the deal with the Turin giants had been already struck, but Can has firmly denied that.

Earlier this season, Paul Joyce, the northern football correspondent for The Times, reported that the impasse in the negotiations with Liverpool about an extension happened because the Merseyside club refuse to include a buy-out clause in their offer, something Can is adamant about.

Liverpool are currently fighting to secure Champions League football for the second successive season and they will certainly need all their players focused 100%.
