Competition: Euro 2016
Market: England to fail to qualify
Odds: 19/1 @ Bet 365
England played out a drab 1-0 win against Norwich in last night’s international friendly, and supporters aren’t holding out much hope of the Three Lions in the next tournament.
After crashing out at the World Cup group stages this summer, England have made drastic changes to the team following the retirements of Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard.
A younger generation are now forcing their way into the first-team, but there are question marks about the quality. Bet 365 are giving England odds of 19/1 to endure a failed Euro 2016 qualification that culminates in them not making the tournament.
England’s group features Estonia, Switzerland, Lithuania, San Marino and Slovenia, but with how poorly they’ve been performing of late, some don’t think the Three Lions are good enough to qualify. Roy Hodgson’s side have won just once in their last six games.
It would be the second European Championship in six years that England have failed to participate in following their non-Euro 2008 campaign under manager Steve McClaren.
