England are to play Denmark in a friendly international in Copenhagen on February 9, it was announced here on Monday.
There had been speculation England would play Argentina in the Danish capital that day but that fixture foundered on the objection of Denmark football chiefs.
England manager Fabio Capello was keen to play away from Wembley prior to the Euro 2012 qualifier against Wales at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium, which like Copenhagen’s Parken Stadium has a retractable roof, on March 26.
The match will be the first between the two sides since Denmark, who bowed out of the World Cup at the group stage, won 4-1 in Copenhagen five years ago.
