Saturday, January 11th
BST 15:00 Norwich vs Brighton
While Brighton might have come flying out of the traps following Fabian Hurzler’s arrival last summer, the Seagulls have struggled to find any real stability over recent times.
Despite opening the New Year with a 1-1 stalemate at home against Arsenal, the former St. Pauli boss has not seen his squad muster a single victory from any of their last eight Premier League appearances.
Watching their European dreams take a major dent, Brighton have also claimed just a pair of wins from any of their previous 13 appearances across all competitions.
Crashing out of the EFL Cup back on October 30th thanks to a dramatic 3-2 loss at home against Liverpool, Saturday’s guests have continued to show some worrying defensive issues.
In fact, Brighton have failed to register a single clean sheet across any format since the middle of October.
Although Norwich might have found themselves at the heart of a real struggle when opening December, Saturday’s hosts have come roaring back.
Mounting a sensational last-gasp comeback at home against Coventry last weekend as they eventually snatched a 3-2 win, the Canaries have collected 10 points from their previous four Championship appearances.
Securing another 2-1 victory against Millwall on Boxing Day, Norwich will also be excited by their recent success at Carrow Road.
Aside from a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Burnley last month, that is the only loss that Norwich have suffered from any of their previous six Championship showdowns in Norfolk.
Betting Tip: Both teams to score @ 8/11
15:00 Stevenage vs Burton
Forced to settle for consecutive 0-0 stalemates against Northampton and Lincoln since opening the New Year, Stevenage will be seeking a welcomed boost on Saturday afternoon.
Opening this weekend’s showdown at the Lamex Stadium sat just one-point adrift of breaking into the top-half of the League One table, Alex Revell’s men will be excited to make a return to Hertfordshire.
Signing off 2024 with a stellar 3-0 romp against Bristol Rovers, Stevenage have continued to impress with their success on home soil.
Including a 2-1 victory against Stockport last month, Revell’s camp have collected nine points from their previous four League One appearances in front of their own supporters.
Smelling a golden opportunity this weekend, it should be highlighted that Saturday’s hosts have recorded a clean sheet in four of their last five outings.
While Burton might have eventually clung to their League One status last season, the Brewers are seeking another miracle in 2025.
Sat rock-bottom of the table and at the heart of a public crisis, Gary Bowyer’s side have only put 14 points on the board from any of their 24 League One showdowns so far this season.
Pencilled in as a landslide relegation candidate this season, Burton have recorded just a single win from any of their previous 12 appearances across all competitions.
Likewise, hit with a 4-0 drumming when they welcomed Stevenage to Staffordshire for an EFL Trophy battle on December 10th, Bowyer’s men have another real challenge on their hands here.
Betting Tip: Burton win & Under 4.5 goals @ 1/1
15:00 Southend vs FC Halifax
Although Southend might have shown some extended inconstancies this season, the Shrimpers do appear to have turned a recent corner on either side of opening the New Year.
Getting 2025 underway with a gritty 1-0 victory away at Braintree, Kevin Maher’s men should be looking to mount a genuine play-off charge over the coming months.
Opening Saturday’s showdown at Roots Hall sat just three points adrift of breaking into the top-six, Southend have won each of their previous three appearances across all competitions.
Signing off 2024 with a dominant display as they cruised their way to a 4-0 romp at home against Ebbsfleet, Saturday’s hosts will be smelling a potential opportunity here.
It should also be highlighted, Southend have secured back-to-back victories at Roots Hall for the first time over the past 11 months.
While Halifax might also open Saturday’s battle in Essex sat within touching distance of the play-off places, age Shaymen are seeking some much-needed stability.
Forced to settle for a 0-0 stalemate away at Altrincham last time out, Chris Millington’s camp have recorded just a single victory from any of their previous eight appearances across all competitions.
Suffering a major FA Trophy upset last month as they fell to an infamous penalties defeat away at seventh-tier outfit Basford, the Yorkshire-based outfit have also shown some extended struggles on their travels.
Recording just a pair of wins outside of Yorkshire since the middle of October, they also fell to a 3-0 drumming when they last travelled to Roots Hall.
