Enrique annoyed by lack of firepower

Liverpool left-back Jose Enrique has called for better finishing from his team-mates after their seventh home draw of the season.

Saturday’s goalless draw with Stoke at Anfield left Kenny Dalglish’s men in sixth place in the English Premier League – five points behind fourth-placed Chelsea in the race for a Champions League berth.

Enrique was frustrated after the Stoke match and has had enough of his team’s wastefulness in front of goal.

“We lost two points again and we have to improve our home form, because we have lost too many points at Anfield this season,” he said.

“It has been a similar story all season at home and it is frustrating, as we are creating chances but not taking them.”

“I don’t think Stoke deserved a point because we had all of the ball, especially in the second half, and we created two or three really good chances but we just couldn’t score.”

“We just have to stay positive. I think, maybe the Swansea game aside,

we have deserved to win the other games we have drawn at home.”

Having beaten Manchester City 1-0 in midweek in the first leg of their League Cup semi-final, the stage was set for Liverpool to put pressure on the teams above them in the Premier League.

Despite failing to do so, Enrique is still hopeful they can bridge the gap.

“The most important thing is the three points. If we start to take our chances then we can be in the top-four, but if we don’t then we will make it more difficult for ourselves,” Enrique said.

“I think it’s good we have a break now so we can prepare for Bolton.”

“Away from home at the moment we are getting better results than at home, so hopefully we can get the three points next Saturday.”
