Roma general manager Franco Baldini insists head coach Luis Enrique will stay with the Italian club.
Enrique’s side salvaged a 2-2 draw with Napoli on Saturday, however the Spaniard’s job has been under intense scrutiny with Roma failing to achieve Champions League qualification.
But Baldini said the club have no intention of casting him aside at the end of the campaign.
“I can only tell you that Roma absolutely intend to keep Luis Enrique,” Baldini said.
“I don’t hide that he’s worn out by this season, in some moments he has great determination and in some others – as it often happens at Roma – he’s really exhausted.
“That’s why we said: let’s finish the season in the best possible way, giving all that we have, and only when the season is over, we’ll both sit down and analyse all the problems we had and try to find solutions to the problems, and then we’ll see.”
Baldini also defended Enrique against accusations he has taken Roma away from their traditional style of play.
“Roma cannot play like this, Roma must continue to play their game, we’re not a team that could play so defensively, it’s not in our DNA,” he said.
“People say we’re not playing Roma-style anymore, but the head coach has never given such an indication to his players, this happens because the players change their attitude while on the pitch.
“It could depend on the fact we came from two tough defeats, the one in Turin and the home game against Fiorentina, so it was simply a psychological change, not indicated by the head coach.”
