Striker Luuk de Jong scored a late winner to help Twente reclaim top spot in the Eredivisie with a 2-1 win at ADO Den Haag on Friday.

The title race remains in the balance as Twente moved three points clear at the top, though a win to PSV Eindhoven at Feyenoord on Sunday will put them back on the summit.

Fledgling Netherlands striker De Jong, 20, struck the 86th-minute winner to cap off an open and entertaining second-half.

Costa Rican attacker Bryan Ruiz gave Twente the lead just after the hour mark when he tapped in after a cut-back from Belgian midfielder Nacer Chadli.

But the hosts equalised less than 10 minutes later when Russian attacker Dmitriy Bulykin volleyed home from close range.

De Jong popped up to hit what could be a vital goal in Twente’s chase for a second-straight Eredivisie title.
