ADO Den Haag made home advantage count to defeat Heracles 2-0 on Friday, edging above their opponents on the Eredivisie table.
Heracles had thumped VVV-Venlo 7-0 last Friday in their last Eredivisie match, but found things decidedly more difficult against an ADO Den Haag outfit hoping to extend their undefeated run in the league to four games.
The hosts took one step towards doing just that when Mike van Duinen used skill and pace to dribble around Heracles goalkeeper Remko Pasveer and a handful of defenders to score after just eight minutes.
It was the 20-year-old’s third league goal of the season, though ADO Den Haag had to wait until the 81st minute to make the points safe.
They did so though Lex Immers, ensuring they leapt above Heracles and into ninth on the table, ahead of the rest of the weekend’s programme.
Both sides claimed Europa League playoff finishes last Eredivisie season, and will be aiming to do the same this campaign.
