ADO Den Haag picked up their first home win of the Eredivisie season on Wednesday with a surprise 2-1 victory over Vitesse.
Vitesse could have gone top of the league with a victory at the Kyocera Stadium, but were denied thanks to spectacular winner from Mathias Gehrt 20 minutes from time.
Den Haag had lost three of their previous four league games going into the clash with Peter Bosz’s side, but were ahead through Michiel Kramer after just seven minutes.
The striker prodded a Dion Malone cross from the right past Piet Velthuizen to edge the hosts into an early lead.
Mike Havenaar came close to levelling before the break when he saw his effort hit the post and roll back across goal, but the visitors had their equaliser 20 minutes into the second half.
Davy Propper scored his first league goal of the season with a long-range strike from outside the area to draw Vitesse level.
However, Maurice Steijn’s side were not to be denied and gained the crucial third goal five minutes later.
Gehrt produced a wonderfully-crafted effort that looped over Velthuizen and in to secure the win that moves Den Haag up a place to 16th.
Vitesse remain in sixth after being denied a third consecutive win in the league.
