Eredivisie: Excelsior 0 Groningen 1

A goal by defender Lorenzo Burnet secured all three points for Groningen at Excelsior on Friday.

Burnet, in his first season in the Netherlands top flight, struck the match winner in the 18th minute after good play by Swedish midfielder Petter Andersson.

It was the Amsterdam-born 21-year-old’s first goal in the Eredivisie and he celebrated in style.

Groningen retain their mid-table position with the win while Excelsior are languishing in 17th place with 18 points, seven behind Venlo.
