NEC Nijmegen extended their unbeaten run in Eredivisie to seven matches with a 2-0 win at struggling Excelsior on Tuesday.
Alex Pastoor’s in-form European hopefuls battled to the win at Stadion Woudestein thanks to goals from Lasse Schone and Krisztian Vadocz.
Danish midfielder Schone struck for the fifth straight match, opening the scoring from the penalty spot just before half-time.
Hungary midfielder Vadocz sealed the three points late on with his first goal of the campaign.
The win sees eighth-placed NEC Nijmegen move three points clear of RKC Waalwijk, who face PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday, while Excelsior remain in the second relegation play-off spot.
