Vitesse missed the chance to move to the top of the Eredivisie as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Feyenoord on Friday.

Peter Bosz’s side went into the clash just two points adrift of league leaders and champions Ajax, but were forced to settle for a point from a tight encounter.

Feyenoord’s top scorer Graziano Pelle put his side 1-0 up with his 16th Eredivisie goal of the season six minutes before the break.

Ronald Koeman’s men were well placed to get the win they needed to move above Twente into third, but Vitesse – whose last Eredivisie defeat came at home to Feyenoord on October 6 – had other ideas.

The visitors responded strongly after the interval, and drew level through the unlikely source of Guram Kashia.

The Georgian defender had not previously scored in the league this season, but popped up on 57 minutes to salvage a point and extend Vitesse’s unbeaten Eredivisie streak to 12 matches.

Ajax can now move four points clear at the summit with a win at Utrecht on Sunday.
