AZ Alkmaar midfielder Rasmus Elm has revealed that he plans to make a decision regarding his future after the European Championships.
The Swedish international is one of the most sought-after players in Europe and he has seen his name linked with a host of high-profile sides.
Nonetheless, the player explains that he is likely to wait until after the European Championship before opting for one of the numerous options.
“I say to all the clubs: I will wait until after the European Championship,” Elm was quoted as saying in Voetbal International.
“I hope to make a new step in my career, but it is far from certain that I will leave this summer. I feel good at AZ.”
The 24-year-old has just over a year left on his deal at AFAS Stadion, meaning the summer transfer window is the last opportunity for the club to properly cash in on their star player.
Elm understands that a pressure and media attention will be greater if he joins one of the big European clubs, but he vows to remain grounded.
“The attention in other countries will be greater, certainly. That is why you should always stay true to yourself.”
The Swedish midfielder has been in fine form this season, scoring 10 goals and producing 8 assists in 32 Eredivisie games.
