A brace from Mike van der Hoorn led FC Utrecht to an important 3-2 win over Excelsior in the Eredivisie on Friday night.
The defender gave the home side the lead on 22 minutes, before Samuel Scheimann levelled proceedings with a free-kick.
Excelsior then grabbed the advantage 15 minutes into the second half when Roland Alberg netted, only for Utrecht to equalise through Van Der Hoorn’s second of the match.
Excelsior was down to 10 men when Nana Asare was given his marching orders after a second yellow card but as the game looked headed for a draw, up popped Tommy Oar, who struck with just a minute remaining to claim all three points for Utrecht.
The win gives Utrecht some breathing space away from the relegation zone, while Excelsior are stuck at the bottom of the table.
