VVV-Venlo and Excelsior played out a 0-0 stalemate on Friday, doing little to help either side’s relegation woes in the Eredivisie.

Excelsior travelled to Venlo’s Seacon Stadion in winning form, having picked up their first three points of the campaign at home to RKC Waalwijk last Saturday.

They will be the happier side from Friday’s clash with Venlo, but the draw keeps Excelsior bottom of the Eredivisie table on five points and their opponents one spot and one point above them.

Venlo and Excelsior have leaked 17 goals apiece from their 12 games, leaving them with much work to do to escape the bottom three.
