Meanwhile, Feyenoord recorded a comfortable 3-0 win at strugglers De Graafschap.
John Guidetti, Ruben Schaken and Sekou Cisse all netted in the comprehensive win as last-placed De Graafschap slumped to their seventh straight loss.
A late brace from Ninos Gouriye guided Heracles to a 3-1 victory at home to Utrecht.
The former Twente forward netted in the 80th and 86th minutes to help the hosts to the win at Polman Stadion.
Utrecht, who had earlier levelled when Cedric van der Gun cancelled out Samuel Armenteros’ opener, finished the encounter with 10 men after Alje Schut was red-carded.
