AZ Alkmaar have continued their superb start to the Eredivisie season, while Utrecht and Ajax played out a 10-goal thriller on Sunday.
Gertjan Verbeek’s men have been dominant to begin this campaign, and they continued their winning ways with a comfortable 3-0 victory over ADO Den Haag.
Australian Brett Holman netted the opener on 11 minutes, before Adam Maher gave them a two-goal advantage just after the hour mark.
Striker Jozy Altidore wrapped up the scoring seven minutes from time to complete the win.
AZ have won 10 of their first 12 games, and are six points clear of second-placed Twente.
Meanwhile, Ajax slipped to an entertaining 6-4 loss at Utrecht.
The goals were flowing at the Stadion Galgenwaard, and the clash was level at 2-2 after 32 minutes as Utrecht’s Nana Akwasi Asare and Edouard Duplan traded efforts with Ajax pair Dmitri Bulykin and Andre Ooijer.
Ajax were ahead before the interval after Bulykin completed his brace, yet the game swung back in Utrecht’s favour after a stunning seven-minute period early in the second half.
Daan Bovenberg, Zambian striker Jacob Mulenga and Ghanaian Asare struck to give Utrecht a 5-3 lead after 55 minutes.
Dane midfielder Christian Eriksen pulled a goal back for Ajax, but Utrecht, spurred on by their home fans, hung on and added a sealer when Anouar Kali produced a lovely chip over Kenneth Vermeer in the sixth minute of added time.
Elsewhere, Twente thrashed struggling De Graafschap 4-0 thanks to goals from Peter Wisgerhof, Luuk de Jong, Ola John and Leroy Fer.
