ADO Den Haag and Groningen will clash in a two-leg final for a Europa League place after wins in Sunday’s playoff semi-finals.

Den Haag had to come from behind to defeat Roda JC 2-1, securing a 6-4 aggregate triumph, as Groningen accounted for Heracles 2-1 at home to progress on the away goals rule after the tie finished 4-4 on aggregate.

A Morten Skoubo header fired Roda ahead at the 13-minute mark on Sunday, but Mitchel Pique levelled for Den Haag before Wesley Verhoek scored the winner after 79 minutes.

Groningen finished their game with 10 men when Tim Sparv was sent off for a second caution, but goals from Petter Andersson and Oluwafemi Ajilore were enough to send them into the Europa League playoff final despite Glynor Plet’s late consolation for the visitors.

Den Haag will host the first leg on Thursday with the second leg in Groningen on Sunday.
