Go Ahead Eagles snatched a late winner in an exhilarating 4-3 victory over Roda JC at De Adelaarshorst on Saturday.
Foeke Booy’s side looked like they had surrendered the points after letting a three goal lead slip, but an own goal from Alireza Jahanbakhsh in the closing stages secured the maximum haul.
Deniz Turuc opened the scoring with his first of the season, before Xander Houtkoop and Jarchinio Antonia made it 3-0 inside 28 minutes.
And they were cruising in the second half until a three goal blitz in 15 minutes silenced the home fans.
Michael Higdon’s third of the campaign began the comeback before Jakob Jantscher reduced the deficit further.
And the away fans were sent into delirium when Ryan Koolwijk levelled the scores in the 87th minute.
But in the final minute of normal time Jahanbakhsh put past his own goalkeeper, as the home side’s blushes were spared and NEC remained rooted to the bottom of the table.
PEC Zwolle missed the opportunity to move level on points with Eredivisie leaders Twente, as they played out an ill-tempered 0-0 draw away to Roda JC.
The home side finished the match with just nine men, after Roly Bonevacia and Frank Demouge were shown straight red cards.
The second dismissal led to the match being interrupted by referee Dennis Higler, as the home fans responded by throwing objects onto the field of play.
There was a conclusion, however, with PEC looking to snatch the points but they were unable to make a breakthrough.
NAC Breda made it six games without a league defeat as they battled to a 2-1 triumph over Heracles at the Rat Verlegh Stadion.
After a goalless first half Nebojsa Gudelj’s charges stole ahead through Rydell Poepon’s third goal of the season in the 49th minute.
Their lead was short-lived, however, as just two minutes later Thomas Bruns levelled for Heracles.
But the home fans were celebrating victory six minutes from time thanks to Stipe Perica’s intervention.
The match between Ado Den Haag and Heerenveen which was originally scheduled for Saturday was postponed due to an unplayable pitch at the Kyocera Stadion.
