Ten-man Heracles Almelo came from behind to win 6-2 at Willem II, while ADO Den Haag and NEC Nijmegen also won in Saturday’s Eredivisie action.

Willem II, bottom in the Eredivisie, were coming off the back of a 5-4 home defeat to Roda JC in a match where they led 2-1 and once again they let a lead slip in front of their home fans at the Koning Willem II Stadion.

That lead was established when Mark Looms was given a straight red card after just four minutes and Andreas Lasnik tucked away the resultant penalty.

But Willem II’s advantage lasted just two minutes, as Everton grabbed the first of three goals on the night.

The Brazilian also found the back of the net after 40 minutes and Heracles moved 3-1 ahead after Willy Overtoom buried a spot-kick in first half stoppage time.

Everton’s fourth sealed the result after 58 minutes and although Denis Halilovic pulled a consolation goal back for the hosts with eight minutes remaining, Overtoom and Kwame Quansah added polish to the scoreline with goals in the last five minutes.

ADO Den Haag moved to within four points of third-placed Ajax and a potential Champions League qualifiers place after they won 1-0 against Vitesse Arnhem at the Kyocera Stadion.

Danny Buijs scored the all-important goal after 28 minutes to extend his side’s home unbeaten run to seven league matches.

VVV Venlo’s winless run stretched to five matches after they were beaten 4-1 at home by NEC Nijmegen.

Lorenzo Davids – cousin of Edgar Davids – opened the scoring for the visitors before John Goossens struck a second-half double, which was sandwiched by Bjorn Vleminckx’s 61st-minute goal.

A late penalty to Ahmed Musa was barely a consolation as VVV Venlo’s poor run of form continued.

The other match on Saturday saw Excelsior and De Graafschap play out a goalless draw.
