Vitesse Arnhem have thumped ADO Den Haag 4-0 to maintain their title challenge in the Eredivisie, while PSV Eindhoven went top with a win.

PSV knocked off RKC Waalwijk 2-0 to replace Ajax Amsterdam at the top of the Eredivisie, while Wilfried Bony and Marco van Ginkel combined to effectively destroy Den Haag on their own as Vitesse won their fifth-consecutive match on Saturday.

Vitesse led 2-0 at half-time after Bony scored in the eighth and 39th minutes to take his season tally to 24 goals with both strikes created by Van Ginkel.

The duo swapped roles 10 minutes into the second half as Bony set up Van Ginkel to make it 3-0 before Mike Havenaar wrapped up Vitesse’s big win with a goal in the 85th minute.

The victory takes Vitesse to third on 54 points, equal with Ajax and ahead of Feyenoord (53 points) although the two latter clubs are yet to play this weekend.

PSV regained the lead in the Eredivisie thanks to a penalty from Dries Mertens and a second-half goal from Georginio Wijnaldium to see off RKC but Ajax can go top again if they beat AZ Alkmaar on Sunday.

In other Eredivisiie results, Heerenveen maintained their bid for a Europa League berth, claiming their fourth-straight victory with a 3-1 triumph away to NEC Nijmegen, while Heracles also won on the road, defeating VVV Venlo 2-0.
