Zakaria Bakkali notched a hat-trick as PSV Eindhoven thrashed NEC Nijmegen 5-0 at the Philips Stadion on Saturday.

Philip Cocu’s side were in front after just six minutes as Bakkali grabbed his first of the game, but NEC held firm until the break.

However, in the second half PSV completely dominated proceedings. Bakkali’s second came shortly after the restart before Georginio WIjnaldum scored twice in 14 second-half minutes.

And Bakkali deservedly got his treble with eight minutes left on the clock as PSV completed the rout.

Elsewhere on Saturday, PEC Zwolle backed up their impressive opening-day victory over Feyenoord with a convincing 3-1 win away to Heracles.

They made the perfect start when Jesper Drost opened his season account with a goal in the first minute, and it was two within the opening quarter of an hour when Kamohelo Mokotjo doubled the advantage.

The home side did have something to cheer when Maikel van der Werff scored past his own goalkeeper a minute shy of the half-time whistle.

Zwolle were forced to endure a nervy second half but the game was put beyond all doubt in injury time when Guyon Fernandez notched his second goal of the campaign.

Heerenveen made it two wins from as many games with a 2-0 success away to NAC Breda.

Hakim Ziyech opened the scoring just five minutes before the break, before Alfred Finnbogason wrapped up the match in additional time.

At De Adelaarshorst, Go Ahead Eagles consigned Ado Den Haag to successive defeats when Marnix Kolder struck late to complete a 2-1 victory.

Xandro Schenk put the home side ahead but his effort was cancelled out eight minutes before half-time by Mike van Duinen.

But Erik ten Hag’s side secured all three points courtesy of Kolder’s 82nd-minute winner.

Roda JC picked up their first points of the campaign with a 2-0 win over Cambuur on Friday.
