Twente continued their 100 percent start to the Eredivisie season with an emphatic 5-1 win away at Heerenveen on Saturday.

First-half goals from Luuk de Jong, Willem Janssen and Marc Janko put the visitors firmly in command by the break at the Abe Lenstra Stadion.

Emir Bajrami then made it 4-0 in the 65th minute.

Luciano Narsingh pulled one back for the Heerenveen with four minutes remaining, but Janko struck his second from the penalty spot in the 89th minute to complete the thrashing.

The win takes Twente two points clear at the top of the table, ahead of Vitesse, who won 2-1 at home to Utrecht.

Wilfried Bony opened the scoring for Vitesse from the penalty spot just six minutes into the match at the Gelredome.

Jacob Mulenga equalised for the visitors in the first half and with the scores still level heading into the closing exchanges, Vitesse looked to be set for a frustrating draw.

Utrecht then went down to 10 men with the sending off of Marcus Nilsson in the 85th minute.

And Bony made the man advantage count, notching the winner and completing his brace with just a minute remaining.

Vitesse are second with seven points from three matches played, one point ahead of Ajax and Feyenoord, who are in action on Sunday.

Elsewhere, Excelsior managed a 1-1 draw at home to De Graafschap thanks to Leendert van Steensel, who struck with seven minutes remaining to cancel out Rydell Poepon’s first-half opener.

NAC Breda also settled for a point at home, coming from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Groningen.

The visitors had led through first-half efforts from Leandro Bacuna and Petter Andersson.

But Alex Schalk pulled one back for NAC three minutes after the restart, and Anthony Lurling levelled on 57 minutes, with neither side able to force a winner in the time remaining.
