FC Twente opened up a two-point lead at the top of the Eredivisie table after a straightforward 3-1 win over NEC Nijmegen.

Twente took the lead in the 14th minute after Luc Castaignos scored his first goal of the season, with the away side doubling their advantage eight minutes later through Dmitri Bulykin.

Leroy Fer converted a penalty three minutes before half time after a Gabor Babos foul to end the game as a contest.

Evander Sno did manage to pull a goal back for NEC on 77 minutes but Twente ran out comfortable winners.

The victory moves them two points clear at the summit with three wins from as many games.

Feyenoord kept in touch with Twente after a 2-1 away win over Heracles.

A fourth-minute strike from Daryl Janmaat and a Lex Immers goal on the stroke of half-time saw the visitors lead at the break.

Lerin Duarte got Heracles back in the game with a goal on 52 minutes but the home side could not find an equaliser as Feyenoord moved to seven points in the table.

PSV moved up to sixth place with a 3-1 victory away to Groningen.

Atiba Hutchinson opened the scoring for the visitors eight minutes before half-time, before Dries Mertens and Memphis Depay put the result beyond doubt late in the match. Mitchell Schet scored a consolation goal for Groningen two minutes from full-time.

Jonathan Reis was the hero for Vitesse in their 2-0 win over Willem II.

The Brazilian scored either side of half-time to hand Fred Rutten’s side an encouraging win away from home.

Elsewhere, AZ Alkmaar lost ground on the leaders after a disappointing 0-0 draw at home to Heerenveen. The result leaves AZ on five points, four behind leaders Twente.
