Dutch giants Ajax improved to third on the Eredivisie table after a routine 2-0 victory at VVV Venlo on Sunday, while Feyenoord also won.
Egyptian international Mido put Ajax ahead with his first league goal of the season in the 62nd minute, before Serbian under-21 international striker Miralem Sulejmani added another eight minutes later.
Ajax move to within three points of second-placed Twente and league-leaders PSV Eindhoven, while VVV remain stuck in the relegation zone.
Meanwhile, Feyenoord moved clear of the drop zone with a 2-1 victory over ADO Den Haag.
On-loan Anderlecht attacker Dmitri Bulykin gave ADO the lead in first-half injury time but his strike was cancelled out by an own goal to Aleksander Radosavljevic two minutes after the restart.
Eighteen-year-old striker Luc Castaignos then put Feyenoord into the lead with his fifth goal of the season in the 59th minute.
Feyenoord rise to 15th on the table, one point clear of the relegation zone, while ADO fall to seventh.
Willy Overtoom converted from the penalty spot in the 84th minute as Heracles stunned Utrecht 2-1.
Heracles gained a 1-0 lead in the 55th minute after Alje Schut’s own goal, but Tim Cornelisse equalised for the visitors on 73 minutes.
In Sunday’s final fixture, Vitesse held on for a 1-1 draw at De Graafschap, with Wiljan Pluim cancelling out Youssouf Hersi’s 23rd-minute goal.
