Eric Cantona returns to football
Manchester United legend Eric Cantona is set for a return to football as he will be appointed the director of New York Cosmos.
The United States club are closing in on the return to MLS and Eric Cantona says he is delighted to be given this opportunity.
“I am very honoured to join the legendary New York Cosmos. It’s a big project, a wonderful project. The Cosmos are very strong, beautifully made, with a great past. It’s kind of a mix between football and art.
“I will do everything I can to help us first find our way to regain the No 1 position in the United States, and then for us to become one of the best clubs in the world.”
Eric Cantona will be given the task of putting together a squad expected to challenge for honours in the new few seasons and the Frenchman will work closely with Pele, who is acting as club president at the moment.
The Cosmos are determined to revive the old glory days when their squad consisted of stars like Pele, Bobby Moore, Eusebio and Franz Beckenbauer.
Tottenham planning an assault on Hulk
Tottenham are pondering a bid for Porto striker Hulk as Harry Redknapp hopes to bring a new striker to White Hart Lane.
Spurs have been following the Brazilian hitman for quite a while, having watched him five times this season and more than thirty times since they first laid eyes on him.
With Porto increasing the player’s release clause from €40 million to €100 million, it is more than clear the Dragons will not sell him cheap, especially since they see him as a key member of the squad.
One of the reasons why Porto are holding out for a big transfer fee is because they only own half of the player’s contract, so Tottenham will have to break the bank in order to sign the Brazilian.
There is no doubt Hulk would be a great signing for Tottenham as he has already proven his goalscoring abilities despite not playing as a centre forward at Porto, and with Harry Redknapp hoping to raise significant funds by selling a couple of fringe players, a January assault on Hulk look on the cards.

Lass to remain at Real until June
Lassana Diarra’s agent, John Williams has moved to deny speculations linking his client with a January move away from the club by saying the transfer will only be discussed in June.
After losing the starting place at Real, Diarra was heavily linked with Manchester United, but his agent says January move is out of the question.
“For the time being, unless something unpredictable happens, Lass is not leaving Madrid. We will discuss this issue again in June,” said John Williams.
Williams says Diarra is fully focused on helping Real challenge for honours this season.
“The coach has never had to say anything about the professionalism demonstrated by Diarra in training and he remains happy to wear the white shirt.
“Lassana continues to train with utmost dedication hoping to earn a starting spot.”
Williams states the interested clubs haven’t been in contact with him.
“They haven’t called me directly, but I cannot exclude the possibility that they have spoken with Real chiefs.”
Real are obviously not prepared to let Diarra leave in January, but everything suggests that the player will be moving clubs next summer.
