Competition: Champions League
Market: Erik Lamela to score anytime
Odds: 13/8 @ Bet 365
If they stand any chance of reaching the knockout stage of this years Champions League, Spurs will know that nothing short of three points at Wembley on Tuesday will be good enough.
Starting with the hosts, while Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham side avoided more late embarrassment to pick up a 3-2 win away against Wolves on Saturday night, it has been a woeful European run for Spurs. Picking up just one draw in their opening three Group B matches, their only point in this years Champions League came in last months 2-2 draw against PSV. If Spurs are to mount an incredibly unlikely push for the knockout stage, they will be hoping Argentinian winger Erik Lamela can carry on his very impressive start to the season. The 26-year-old now has eight goals in his last 11 appearances across all competitions.
As for the visitors, PSV are in an almost identical situation to Tottenham. Also with just one point in their opening three European games, few expected Mark van Bommel’s side to make much of an impact in Group B. While their Champions League run has been disappointing, the visitors are enjoying an impressive start to life in the Eredivisie. Coming off the back of a 1-0 win against Vitesse last weekend, PSV hold a five-point buffer over Ajax at the top of the table. However, failing to win any of their last 11 European matches, it could be another very tough night’s work for Van Bommel’s men.
