Erik Lamela to complete a switch to Roma; Cissokho hints at Liverpool move

Erik Lamela to complete a switch to Roma

The on-again off-again transfer story of Erik Lamela joining Roma is back on, according to a report in Il Tempo.

The River Plate hotshot arrived to Italy yesterday and spent the night at Roma’s training centre, adding fuel to speculations that he is set to sign for the Olimpico outfit.

Roma’s sporting director Walter Sabatini recently admitted that the club were interested in the 19-year-old and he is finally set to complete the transfer, according to Il Tempo.

Following their relegation to the second division, River Plate have agreed to sell the highly rated youngster, with the transfer set to be completed in the coming days.

Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini has reportedly managed to lower the €12 million asking price to €10 million, albeit with a condition.

River Plate will be entitled to 20% of any transfer fee from the player’s future sale, which could bring the Argentine club a hefty windfall if Lamela indeed realize his undoubted potential.

The youngster has agreed to sign a five-year deal with the Serie A side worth €1.5 million per campaign.

Cissokho hints at Liverpool move

Premiership side Liverpool are hot on the trail of Lyon full-back Aly Cissokho, according to France Football.

The 23-year-old defender is reportedly unsettled at Gerland following a very disappointing season with Lyon and he could leave the club this summer.

Cissokho was mentioned as a possible target for Manchester City, but the Citizens’ interest has cooled off after they signed Gael Clichy from Arsenal.

Nevertheless, it appears that Liverpool have taken advantage of the situation and the Reds are edging closer to signing the France international.

Kenny Dalglish is widely looking for a left-back and after considering Luis Enrique and Emilio Izaguirre, he has shifted his interest towards Aly Cissokho.

The player himself was coy on the possibility of joining Liverpool.

“Nothing is done at the moment, I’ll let my agent work and take care of it,” Cissokho told L’Equipe.

Lyon are reportedly asking for €9 million, which shouldn’t be a problem for free-spending Liverpool.

Siena confirm D’Agostino signing

Siena have reached an agreement to sign midfielder Gaetano D’Agostino from Udinese, the club have confirmed.

The number of Serie A clubs had shown interest in the Italy international, but he eventually opted for the newly promoted side.

The highly regarded midfielder will arrive to Siena on Saturday, where he will sign a long-term deal subject to passing a medical.

The club also revealed that D’Agostino would join his new teammates for pre-season training on Sunday.

After spending four years at Udinese, the midfielder joined Fiorentina last summer in a co-ownership deal, but he again became a Udinese player this summer when the Zebrette won the blind auction for his signature.

However, president Giampaolo Pozzo soon revealed that they didn’t plan to keep the former Roma star.

Newly promoted side Siena subsequently took advantage of the situation to reinforce their midfield area with a very experienced player.
