Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag is pushing the club hierarchy to make a move for PSV winger Cody Gakpo in the January transfer window, according to 90min. The report has claimed that Ten Hag wanted to sign the 23-year-old Netherlands international from his former club Ajax in the summer of 2022 and remains keen on him.
Cristiano Ronaldo is no longer at United, having left the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners this month following an exploitive interview with TV presenter Piers Morgan in which he hammered Ten Hag as well as the club’s current owners. The Red Devils need to recruit a new forward as a replacement for the Portugal international.
Gakpo is having a wonderful 2022 Qatar World Cup campaign for the Netherlands and has scored three goals in three appearances. The 23-year-old has scored nine goals and given one assist in the Eredivisie and has scored three goals and provided two assists in the UEFA Europa League.
