Ajax playmaker Christian Eriksen has rejected a move to Bayer Leverkusen, his agent has revealed.
The 21-year-old has been strongly linked with a departure from the Eredivisie club, with Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund believed to be most interested in securing his services.
But an approach from another Bundesliga outfit in Leverkusen has been rejected out of hand, with the Denmark international’s representative explaining the club did not meet his client’s “criteria”.
Martin Schoots told Voetbal International: “Christian will only leave Ajax on sporting grounds, that’s his main criteria.”
Eriksen has been a regular fixture in the Ajax first team since making his debut in a 2010 meeting with NAC Breda.
He played a prominent role in Frank de Boer’s side clinching the Dutch top flight title last term for the second consecutive season.
The Dane scored 10 goals in 33 league appearances in 2012-13.
