Tottenham starlet Christian Eriksen has admitted that he rejected a chance to join Manchester City in the past.
The Dane had been followed by top European clubs long before he finally left Ajax this summer, and he could have easily ended up at Manchester City.
Eriksen, however, opted against joining Roberto Mancini’s side as he didn’t believe he was ready to make an impact in the Premier League.
“It took a while to get here because I said No a few times,” Eriksen was quoted as saying in Daily Mail.
“City really wanted to sign me, but it didn’t feel right. I didn’t feel ready for the Premier League and now it looks like I moved at the right time.
“Maybe I wouldn’t have played at City, and I wouldn’t go to a club to stay on the bench.”
Eriksen seems to have made a right decision as he has proved to be an instant hit at White Hart Lane having joined the club in the late stages of the summer transfer window.
The 21-year-old largely impressed on his debut against Norwich before scoring his first goal for the club in the Europa League clash against Tromso.
Eriksen should be recalled to the starting line-up for the trip to Cardiff, and he is 13/8 to open his Premier League account this weekend.
