Eriksson and Manchester City part ways

English Premiership side Manchester City officially announced the departure of former England manager Sven-Göran Eriksson.

The club state that the contract was terminated mutually.

The news doesn’t come as much of a surprise as Eriksson’s relationship with club owner Thaksin Shinawatra has been anything but easy in recent months. In fact, Shinawatra hinted at a departure in April.

Eriksson, who wished Manchester City all the best for the future, has been linked to several other jobs in the last weeks.

The Swede claims to have been in talks with both Portuguese side Benfica and the Mexican national team.
