Swedish manager Sven-Goran Eriksson is reportedly interest in a return to the Premier League. According to his agent, the former England boss wouldn’t mind taking over at Portsmouth.
Pompey are about to be taken over by billionaire Sulaiman Al Fahim, who is said to be interested in the Scandinavian.
Eriksson, who was recently fired from his job at the Mexican national team, was asked to join Portsmouth when Harry Redknapp left for Tottenham Hotspur but at the time rejected the opportunity.
Care-taker manager Paul Hart is expected to return to the club’s youth academy now that the season has ended, once again leaving vacant the most important spot on the bench. Eriksson once again appears to be the top candidate, ahead of Croatian Slaven Bilic and former Chelsea coach Avram Grant.
“Without specifying Portsmouth, of course, he would be interested in a Premier League club with ambition,” agent Athole Still told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“All that I would say at the moment is he has an interest in coming back to the Premier League, and has an interest in being involved with any club that has genuine ambitions,” added Still. He wants to be back in the game within weeks rather than months, and has offers on the table at home and abroad.
“At this moment in time, there has been no official approach from Portsmouth, though.”
