Sevilla defender Julien Escude believes the support of the club’s home fans will inspire them to victory in the Europa League on Wednesday.
Escude is backing the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan crowd to inspire his side to break their five-match losing streak and help Sevilla secure a spot in the Round of 32 in the Europa League.
Sevilla, on nine points after five games, face Bundesliga table-toppers Borussia Dortmund, who are a point behind them.
“At home with the fans, we can beat anyone,” Escude said.
“Also at the start of the season, we had other finals before the start of the league with the Supercopa and also the Champions League.”
“If we want to do things well then we have to support each other on the pitch for 90 minutes.”
Escude is hoping to be part of a defence that can keep the free-scoring visitors quiet and admits the fact that his side keep conceding, especially from set pieces, is a problem.
“We concede a lot of goals, and the manager has repeated to us this morning that in Dortmund the victory came without conceding,” he said.
“That always gives an extra pressure to the strikers and central midfielder, but it is a job for each of our positions.”
“We concede a lot of goals from set pieces as well, which is perhaps from a lack of concentration.”
“We’ve worked on it, using a man-marking system. They are small details that we are missing at the moment.”
