La Liga side Espanyol have moved to confirm reports they are on the verge of signing forward Dorlan Pabon from Parma.
After Samuele Longo returned to Inter, los Periquitos are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements as they battle for La Liga survival.
They have recently been linked with a move for Colombian forward Dorlan Pabon, with club chief Oscar Perarnau admitting Espanyol are in negotiations to sign the highly rated footballer.
“We want to sign Pabon, but it will not be an easy process considering there are many teams interested in him,” Espanyol sporting director Oscar Perarnau told Radio Catalunya. “However, we are in pole position.”
Dorlan Pabon, 24, only joined Parma in the summer, signing a five-year deal, so he hasn’t had enough time to prove his worth at Ennio Tardini.
Despite failing to score in 12 Serie A appearances for il Ducali, the Colombian has shown a lot of promise and it is really surprising that the club chiefs are already prepared to cash in on him.
Pabon can play across a number of positions in attack, but he is likely to be used as a centre forward at Espanyol.
