Espanyol hope to raise cash for Lucas Vazquez purchase

Espanyol are interested in turning Lucas Vazquez’s loan deal into permanent move, but may struggle to raise the money needed to complete the deal, Marca can reveal.

The Real Madrid winger is currently on loan at Cornella El Prat and he has been in scintillating form ever since he joined los Periquitos.

As a result, Espanyol officials have told los Blancos they are interested in matching a €2 million buy-out clause, but face problems finding the cash needed to finance the deal.

Even if los Periquitos would only be requited to pay €1 million in the summer and then additional €1 million in a year’s time, they are not sure they can come up with the money seeing as repaying the debt to the Treasury has the priority.

In case Espanyol find a way to complete the transfer, Real Madrid would include a €4 million buy-back clause to ensure they can re-sign Vazquez on a cut-price deal in case he continues to impress in Catalunya.
